Celebrating World MS Day
May 30th marks World MS Day, where the global MS community come together to share stories, raise awareness and build solidarity. Spearheaded by the MS International Federation and its partners, activities take place throughout the month of May and early June.
The Multiple Sclerosis Domestic Violence and Abuse (MSDVA) Research Initiative has been busy in recent months finalising its Domestic Violence and Abuse (DVA) Toolkit for Healthcare Professionals. On World MS Day, the School of Sociology and Social Policy at Leeds University is proud to highlight this ground breaking work.

DVA remains a deeply sensitive and often hidden issue. Many victim-survivors experience stigma and fear, which can prevent them from seeking help. For people living with MS or other long-term conditions, these challenges can be intensified. Healthcare workers play a critical role in responding to these challenges and in improving outcomes for people living with MS.
By bringing the issue of DVA in MS out of the shadows, the MSDVA Research Initiative is working to reflect the spirit of World MS Day by improving advocacy and awareness, strengthening evidence-based professional practice, and ultimately supporting better outcomes for people living with MS.
